  • Avedis Tufenkjian from Pasadena’s Troop 4 is doing his Eagle Scout project at Rose Bowl Riders! Avedis and his troop will be here on Saturday May 13th to build and install 4 owl boxes around the RBR/TSC facility.     2:00pm – Miniature therapy horse “Cherry Jubilee” will perform tricks and show off her costumes. After her performance Cherry will be at her photo booth so you can have your photo taken with her. She also gives kisses!

    4:00pm – Our own RBR horses and young riders will parade in costume with prizes for everyone!

    Note: There will be a break in the festivities to have a brief meeting to vote on the new version of the bylaws

    5:00pm to 8:00pm – Mexican feast by Lupe Vazquez Taco Catering.

    Beer and Wine will be served but only in our commemorative glasses that you can purchase during the evening! (please no outside liquor is allowed) The Live DJ “All Things Bee” will offer a full range of Country Western music with dancing and of course, country line dancing!

  • The 11th Annual Horses in the Arroyo Day will be held on Saturday, August 20th at 9am! There will be all the usual fun classes like barrel racing, pole bending, egg and spoon, etc. with the addition of a timed obstacle course. A silent auction, tack sale  and BBQ lunch too!   • The Tom Sawyer Camp 2016 summer arena schedule has been posted. Please click here to view. The main arena will be split in half during the summer so we may accommodate our lesson program and riding members as well as the TSC groups.
  • The Spring Work Day will be held on Saturday, May 14th! We begin our day at 8:00am in the Clubhouse with a breakfast spread thanks to Rebecca Roberson. Anna Armstrong, our Site Stewardship Chair will have several projects, big and small, for us to work on. We’ll stop around 1:00 pm to have lunch in the picnic area compliments of RBR. Please be sure to bring work gloves, rakes, shovels, painting or gardening tools if you have them.   • Western trainer Julie Unamuno will be transitioning her program to Encanto Equestrian Center in Duarte, and effective immediately Julie will no longer be giving Western lessons at Rose Bowl Riders.  We are sad to see Julie go and her departure is a loss for our organization. Please join us in wishing Julie the very best of luck with her new opportunity!

The Foundation will describe the projects, goals, agencies in charge, timeline and ASF involvement/leadership. This is a free public event for horse people and those who enjoy the park and arroyo area.   • New at RBR: Arroyo Canyon Summer Horse Camp! RBR’s Western trainer Julie Unamuno will be holding two sessions of week-long Horse Camp at Rose Bowl Riders in July and August 2011. Sessions will focus on Western Pleasure and Horsemanship, with daily riding, mini horse shows, games on horseback, crafts, and much more. The first session will be held July 11-15, and the second session will be from August 22 -26. Both sessions are suitable for children age 7-14. Cost is $400 per session.
